David De Gea blames Van Gaal for Man Utd’s goalscoring problems

David De Gea blames Van Gaal for Man Utd’s goalscoring problems

Sep 29, 2024 3:33 PM

Manchester United keeper David De Gea has question Louis Van Gaal’s decision to sell the Mexican striker Javier Hernandez in the summer.

The Leverkusen striker was a fan favourite at Old Trafford and scored plenty of crucial goals under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Mexican also impressed during his loan spell at Real Madrid and scored a late winner against Atletico Madrid.

Having signed for Leverkusen this summer, Hernandez has been in great form and has bagged 10 goals in 14 games already.

Meanwhile Manchester United have had a tough time finding the net and De Gea is baffled with Van Gaal’s decision to sell the 27 year old striker in the summer.

De Gea has explained that Hernandez would always play in his team and that the Mexican guarantees goals.

De Gea said that Hernandez had been the best player at Manchester United one season and was an undisputed starter.

“These are decisions for the coach. But in my team he would always play,” De Gea said.

“He was an undisputed starter before and player of the year at United. He can get you 20, 30 goals a season. I would like a lot to play with him again, hopefully it can happen.”

Furthermore, Van Gaal’s team selections have also been questionable and responsible for their goalscoring problems. Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has struggled to lead the line this season and new signing Anthony Martial has been deployed on the wing to accommodate his teammates.

It will be interesting to hear what Van Gaal has to say about De Gea’s remarks. But there is no doubt that Hernandez could have been a very useful option for Manchester United now.
