Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, who has a close contact with Real Madrid claim that Madrid may look to offload few more players before the transfer window closes.

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has left the club to join Bayern Munich yesterday. El Con now claim that another former Liverpool player, Alvaro Arbeloa is likely to leave the Bernabeu outfit as well.

Madrid find him surplus to requirement at the moment and are prepared to sell him, with Arsenal his most likely destination. Arbeloa is a utility defender, who can play on both the flanks while can occasionally play as centre-back as well.

The Gunners are looking to add a defender to their ranks and have been linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos but he would cost around £20m. Arbeloa on the other hand would come in cheap. 

El Con says that Arbeloa leaving the club will spell the end of ‘Mourinhismo’ at Real Madrid. He was the last remaining player among those who were closest to Mourinho in the dressing room.
