Premier League players launch #PlayersTogether fund to help NHS

Premier League players launch #PlayersTogether fund to help NHS

Apr 22, 2025 1:22 PM

A number of Premier League stars have joined together to launch the #PlayersTogether campaign which will help raise funds for the NHS as they deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month, top-flight clubs confirmed that they would consult with their players over a 30 per cent salary reduction but the proposal was unpopular with a host of footballers.

Many of them wanted to directly contribute to the affected people with a targeted donation rather than taking pay-cuts which may only benefit their respective clubs.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was among those, who had kick-started the discussions regarding the same and the players have now established a charity to assist the NHS amid the COVID-19 crisis.

The move was announced by NHS Charities Together CEO Ellie Orton with two separate statements, one of which came from the group of players, who created the collective initiative.

“Fantastic news! A huge thank you to all the players supporting #playerstogether. Here’s a statement from Ellie, our CEO #NHS #COVID19” pic.twitter.com/dwnLzLRjeF
