It was a disappointing 2011/12 season for Aston Villa, they finished 16th on the table and only accumulated as many points as they had played games – just two points clear of the relegation zone. They could manage four home wins in the entire season.

They certainly had the players to perform better but ex-manager Alex McLeish could not bring the best out of them. This year, they are relying on Paul Lambert to take Villa to a more respectable position on the table.
