Roma goal keeper Wojciech Szczesny says that he would say ‘yes’ if Arsenal recall him back anytime during the season.

The Polish international was sent on loan to Roma this summer and he has been the club’s first choice goal keeper ever since.

The 25-year-old however has struggled to make a strong impression with his performances for the Giallorossi and has admitted that he would welcome a return to the Premier League.

“Nine months is a long time in football and anything can happen, but Arsenal are like a family to me and I’ve got to admit that if the Gunners do call me back, I would say yes,” Szczesny said in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“If a year ago, somebody had told me I’d be playing for Roma, I would have thought it impossible. I could see myself at Arsenal for all my life, and I don’t hide the fact that is still my dream. I owe a lot to the people there and if they were to give me an opportunity, I would play for them.”

Szczesny was criticised by Roma boss Rudi Garcia for his mistake in letting Gary Medel’s match-winning goal past him on Saturday, as Roma were knocked off the top of the table after their 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan.

The Polish goal keeper says that he is working hard everyday and hopes to win the Scudetto with Roma. Szczesny is also expecting Arsenal to win the Premier League this season. The Gunners are on 25 points, same with Manchester City at the top and are only separated by the goal difference.

Meanwhile, Per Mertesacker believes that Petr Cech’s outstanding form has given everyone a lift in the team. The German defender says that Cech’s hunger has been the driving force behind Arsenal’s ambition this season.

Cech has made a smooth transition to life at Arsenal after spending 11 golden years with Chelsea, and has kept six clean sheets in 11 Premier League games so far.
