Arturo Vidal has admitted that he is aware of recent rumours surrounding linking him with a move to Manchester United.
The Chilean international is a transfer target for incoming Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal. The former Barcelona and Bayer Munich boss has long been an admirer of the 27-year-old and did try to sign him, while Vidal was at Bayer Leverkusen.
Vidal has never shed any light on any possibility of joining United and admitted that he is “very calm” about his future with the Serie A champions.
“I’ve heard about the rumours, but I haven’t spoken more about this subject,” Vidal told La Tercera.
“I’m enjoying my holidays, and when I return to Italy I’ll see what happens. I’m very calm, but anyone would love to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
A report from Chilean newspaper La Tercera claims Antonio Conte’s side are willing to allow Vidal join the Old Trafford club. The deal would cost the Premier League giants around £32m, which would see their star defender Patrice Evra move in the opposite direction.
Evra recently signed a new one-year deal to extend his United stay. However, he could still leave the Red Devils and make a switch to Juventus in the ongoing summer transfer window. The French international’s wife wants Evra to leave his current employers and this could persuade the left-back join Juventus.
Should United have signed Vidal in the ongoing transfer window, he could be their third signing of the window. The Chilean will join Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw, who have already sealed their moves to Old Trafford this summer.
