£58m French striker rejected Chelsea for dream Manchester United move

£58m French striker rejected Chelsea for dream Manchester United move

Oct 10, 2024 6:19 AM

The summer transfer window may be over but the rumour mill is omnipresent. Despite domestic leagues and European competitions in full flow there are lot to speculate if we are to anticipate the ‘fast approaching’ January transfer market.

We bring you a roundup of all the latest transfer stories including a young striker’s ambitions to succeed at Manchester United. Chelsea meanwhile have joined the Red Devils to sign an Argentine midfielder.

Anthony Martial rejected Chelsea to join Manchester United

A report from Manchester Evening News claims that Anthony Martial rejected Chelsea on the summer deadline day to seal his £58m move to Manchester United.

The report states quotes Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev who stated that another European club had lodged a late bid for the 19-year-old. Manchester Evening News themselves claim that the club was none other than Chelsea.

It is believed that the London side were keen to strike a deal Martial before the September 2 deadline with the player staying at Monaco for this season. Martial though chose United as his dream move and the teenager has already become a familiar figure among the Old Trafford faithful by scoring four goals in six games since his stunning debut against arch rivals Liverpool.

Chelsea join race to sign Lucas Biglia:

Reports from Italian media outlet Calciomercato have cited the British Press claiming that Chelsea have joined the race to sign Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia.

The Metro state that Manchester United were interested in the Argentine throughout the summer but any sort of deal failed to materialize. It is believed that the 29 year old has rejected a new contract at the club in early September and he could now leave in the near future.

Jose Mourinho’s side who have endured a horrible start to the season require midfield reinforcements. A move for Biglia thus makes sense given his vast experience and his ability to be an imposing presence in the middle of the park. Biglia’s signing would definitely give Chelsea a boost and would significantly improve their squad, something which is clearly lacking this campaign.

Louis Van Gaal sent scouts to watch Dutch defender:

A couple of days ago we reported that Manchester United were interested in signing Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi. It is believed that the 23 year old enjoys a great relationship with Louis Van Gaal, which could be the key if United are to push for the centre back in the upcoming January transfer window.

It is believed that Marcos Rojo could leave the club in the winter transfer window, thus signing a defender will be the priority for the Red Devils.

The Daily Express have cited Portuguese publication O Jogo, who claim Van Gaal had sent scouts to watch Indi in action against Chelsea last week in the Champions League. Manchester City and Tottenham are also interested in the player and had their own representatives at the Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday night.
