Alvaro Morata alerts Man Utd and Chelsea

Oct 4, 2024 9:15 AM

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has hinted that he may leave Real Madrid this summer immediately after returning to the Spanish giants to join a club that ‘makes him feel important’.

Real Madrid activated the buy-back clause in the striker’s contract with Juventus to re-sign him within two years after he left for the Turin club in 2014.

The 2016 Champions League winners signed Morata for £23 million earlier this month, but it remains uncertain whether Real will provide the 23-year-old an another chance to prove himself in the Spanish capital or whether they will opt to cash in on their former youth academy member this summer.

Morata, who is currently on international duty to represent his national side in the Euro 16, has been heavily linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal and the former Juventus star has indicated that he could leave Real Madrid to secure a pivotal role at an elite European club.

“I’ve got nothing to prove. I’m not a Castilla [Real Madrid’s second team] player anymore. Madrid will decide if I am able or not. If not, I’ll have to take another decision,” Morata said in an interview with TV broadcaster Cuatro.

“All I want is to be just another member of the squad and fight for a place in the side. My only intention is to be happy and be in a place where I feel wanted.”

Morata failed to establish himself as a regular starter during his first spell at Real Madrid, falling behind in the pecking order to club’s star strikers Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

However, since his €20 million move to Juventus, the Spaniard has enjoyed great success at the Italian club, after playing a key role to help the Old Lady clinch back-to-back Serie A and Coppa Italia in his two campaigns with the club.

When quizzed about interest from the Premier League, Morata added, “I’m a Real Madrid player and that’s all I can say. I’d love to continue at Real Madrid, but I want to feel like I am important and battle to win a place.”
