Sporting are willing to sell young Sporting defender Eric Dier, who has struggled to get regular games under his belt this season.
Back in November, we reported that Premier League outfit Tottenham are targeting the young Cheltenham-born defender.
The 20-year-old moved to Portugal as a ten-year-old and established himself as a regular member of the first team squad. He was targeted by ex-Spurs’ manager Andre Villas-Boas while Portuguese newspaper Record reported a fee in the region of £5m will be enough to convince Sporting to part with the Englishman.
“I am only 19, I am very young and Sporting is the right club for me right now,” Dier told UEFA’s official site back in August.
“I don’t think about anything else. I want to win trophies and if one day I leave Sporting I want to do it with silverware. If I don’t, I want to win titles here until the end of my career.
“That is my first goal, to win trophies. Then my objective is to play at the top level inEngland in the Premier League. That’s my dream and ambition.”
But despite two managerial changes, Tottenham are still interested in the defender, while North London rivals Arsenal are also in the mix. O Jogo reports that the defender is not interested in renewing his contract and that Sporting are now willing to negotiate a deal for him with either Arsenal or Spurs.
