Arsenal given hope in the race to sign €30m-rated Spanish striker

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is edging closer to leaving the club, with top European clubs, like Arsenal and Juventus are vying for his signature, according to reports in Italy.

Italian media SportMediaSet claim that Morata has already given his consent to join Juventus having already agreed a five-year- contract in principle for around €10.5m.

Although coach Carlo Ancelotti feels the young striker needs regular game time, in order to further his career, but Real Madrid are thought to be holding out on giving the green signal for the move, which would certainly bring hope to Arsenal and Wolfsburg, as the Spanish giants are mulling over other options as well. Madrid are demanding a fee in the region of €30m, more than double the value offered by Juventus.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Morata for some time now and this delay from Madrid would give the Gunners camp to assess the situation and return with a lucrative offer forcing Madrid to consider.

The 21-year-old is seen as one of the hot prospects in Europe, however, has dropped down the pecking orders at the club under Carlo Ancelotti and has only managed three league starts last season.

Arsenal have other targets as well, like Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic or QPR’s Loic Remy, both are more experienced than Morata, so it remains to be seen, whether Arsenal is ready to take a big-money gamble for the Spaniard or not.
