According to reports from English media outlet Mirror, who have cited Sunday People, Arsenal are plotting a summer move for Hoffenheim’s Brazilian play maker Roberto Firmino to replace Santi Cazorla in the summer transfer window.
There have been reports earlier that Cazorla could leave the Gunners for a potential transfer move to Atletico Madrid in the summer. Thus Arsenal have earmarked Firmino who is set to cost them €25m (according to Transfermarkt)for his services.
The report also states that Gunners’ chief scout Steve Rowley has been keeping tabs on the player who has scored 5 goals and grabbed 7 assists in 23 appearances for the Bundesliga side this term. Moreover Firmino is just 23 and has his best years ahead of him.
The deal could go through as Cazorla will have only 12 months in his contract come this summer and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could cash in the 30 year old. No doubt Arsenal will miss Cazorla’s sublime technical qualities but Wenger will have to think on the future as his policy has always been to offer one year extensions to players above 30.
But will the North London side pay €25m for Firmino This seems to be the biggest question.
