Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger is looking to offload Czech Republic captain, Tomas Rosicky in the summer, according to French newspaper, Le 10 Sport.
The 33-year old joined the Gunners in 2006, but after many injury-hit seasons in North London, Wenger is set to bid farewell to the attacking midfielder.
Despite last week’s reports in the English media of the Czech being offered a contract extension if he reaches the 25-game mark, it seems now that Rosicky’s days are numbered.
Wenger is looking to bring in more youthful players to star alongside new super-signing, Mesut Ozil; and while Rosicky is still able to perform to a decent standard, he is beyond the point of playing a full-season due to being consistently plagued by niggling injuries.
With a host of stellar talent already residing in the Gunners’ midfield, their prime concern in the upcoming transfer markets remains to sign a striker or two. With only Olivier Giroud considered good enough for the Arsenal frontline, Wenger has reportedly been eyeing up Alessio Cerci of Torino.
According to rumours in the English press, Cerci’s sparkling form in Serie A has pricked the ears of many suitors. With Arsenal certainly in need for striking reinforcements, Wenger may be wise to follow up on his curiosity over the 26-year-old in the next few months.
Meanwhile, despite being on the books at the Gunners, Nicklas Bendtner has long been seen as surplus to requirements at the Emirates; but that has not stopped him dreaming of grandeur.
The 25-year-old told Danish publication, Politiken, that he envisions his next club to be either ‘Real Madrid or Barcelona’.
Said in jest perhaps But this is coming from a man who reportedly put himself among the best strikers in the world; Bendtner seemingly has no end of confidence in himself!
