Arsenal weighing up move for Mohamed Elneny

Arsenal weighing up move for Mohamed Elneny

Oct 6, 2024 4:34 PM

Arsenal have been badly hit with injuries this season (no surprise there) and it may force Arsene Wenger to delve into the transfer market in January.

The midfield needs a special attention, as several key players – Jack Wilshere, Thomas Rosicky, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin – are set to remain on the sidelines for a longer period.

As it stands, Arsenal are looking to sign a midfielder in the January window, and Wenger is plotting a move for FC Basel’s 23-year-old defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

According to reports from The Mirror, the Gunners have been monitoring his progress for quite sometime now, are keen to make a move for the Egyptian midfielder, who would cost around £5m.

Southampton’s Victor Wanyama has been Arsenal’s first choice target, but the Gunners are reluctant to meet his £25m valuation.

Recently, John Cross of The Mirror reported that Arsenal could be interested in singing PSG’s highly talented young midfielder Adrien Rabiot, although he could be a loan solution until the summer.
