Aston Villa set to bid for Joe Lolley, fans react on Twitter

Oct 18, 2024 4:38 AM

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are expected to make a bid for Nottingham Forest forward Joe Lolley following their promotion to the Premier League.

Dean Smith’s side booked a place in next season’s top flight after winning the Championship play-off final on Monday, with a 2-1 victory against Derby at Wembley.

The report claims that the Villans are likely to move for the 26-year-old winger after his impressive season at the City Ground. He is at the top of Dean Smith’s list for a spot on the right wing and would cost in the region of £10m.

Lolley enjoyed a fabulous 2018-19 campaign, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 46 appearances. He is reportedly a Villa fan, and therefore a potential move could appeal to him.

He is a versatile forward and has been arguably one of the stand out performers outside the Championship’s top six last season.

Villa will require depth in the squad as the competition will get stronger in the Premier League, and therefore a move for Lolley makes sense.

Many fans have taken to Twitter to express their reaction, and we get a mixed response here. Some fans believe that he is a class player and the club should make a move for him. However, there are others who feel that he is not Premiership quality.

Good. This guy will be brilliant for us. Trust me

Top of the list of right wingers, or top of the list period I really hope this isn’t the highest quality of players we’re going after for a prem squad.

Trust Dean Smith but I’m not convinced, particularly given the money being suggested
