Benfica got a 2-1 win on two second half penalties by Oscar Rene Cordoza on Thursday night.
Liverpool took the lead early with a 9th minute goal from Daniel Agger as that would be the only scoring in the first half.
The visitors wouldn’t be able to hold onto the lead as Benfica would get two penalties in the second half. Cordoza would convert one in the 59th minute and the next in the 79th minute to give Benfica the 2-1 win.
The second leg will head to Anfield on next Thursday.
