Accordingto reports in the reputed Liverpool Echo, the Reds from Merseyside have admitted defeat in their pursuit of Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez. The 25 year old who had a stunning World Cup with Chile now looks set to join Arsenal.
It was believed that Liverpool would ask Barcelona to include the 25 year old as a makeweight in the Luis Suarez deal. However the report claims that the Reds’ officials have failed to convince Sanchez to make a switch to Anfield.
Both the Gunners and the Merseyside giants were willingly to meet the Catalan club’s asking price but it ultimately has come down to the player’s preference to choose the club he wishes to pursue his career next.
The recent developments would come as no surprise as we had earlier reported that the player not keen to join Liverpool. Rather Catalan TV channel TV3 had earlier claimed that Sanchez prefers to join Arsenal.
Liverpool’s loss would be the London club’s gain thanks to the winger’s dazzling ability on the ball and his panache to hit the back of the net at will. The Chilean had a fantastic short time career at Barcelona scoring 39 goals in 88 league games for the Camp Nou outfit.
