According to the Daily Mirror, Celtic have tabled an official offer for Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.
Pennant, whose contract runs out in the summer, was recently linked with a cash/player swap move to Tottenham that involved Aaron Lennon going to Liverpool. However, Celtic could see him as a replacement for the out-of-favor Aiden McGeady, who could be set for an exit from Celtic after a spat gone too far with manager Gordon Strachan.
With Strachan reportedly in pursuit of Pennant, that could be a sign that Celtic are looking towards a future without McGeady. Bayern Munich and Newcastle have already been linked with McGeady, and Pennant’s potential arrival in Glasgow could lead to concrete offers from those clubs and several more.
