Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker will continue his progress with regular first team football at Vitesse Arnheim.
The 21 year old English midfielder had an impressive campaign with the Dutch side last year and managed to score five goals in 34 appearances for the first team.
Both clubs have now agreed a deal with extend that loan period for another season.
Baker is highly rated by the Chelsea academy staff and is expected to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge in the near future. Along with Loftus-Cheek, Musonda and Bamford, Baker is considered as one of the best talents to come out of the Chelsea academy.
Baker is yet to feature for the Blues’ first team and has previously spent time out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons. He has won the Youth cup with Chelsea back in 2012.
Eredivisie has always been a great platform for young and upcoming talents to develop and Baker will be looking to make good use of this opportunity. The 21 year old had other offers as well, but he chose to return to Holland for another season.
‘There was interest from several other clubs last summer but, together with my family and Chelsea, I have discussed the options and we all believed that another year at Vitesse was the best option,’ he said.
Baker specializes in long passing, set pieces and shooting from distance. The talented central midfielder is also very good at controlling the game from deep.
