It seems like it will be a busy January transfer window for Chelsea. Jose Mourinho is looking to bring a central defender to bolster his squad and according to reports from Daily Mirror, the Portuguese is keen to land Inter Milan and Italy defender Andrea Ranocchia in January.
Chelsea, second in the Premier league have conceded 14 goals in the league so far. Mourinho has relied heavily on the defensive pair of John Terry and Gary Cahill and is not too impressed with Brazilian David Luiz, who is a transfer target of Barcelona.
The Blues manager therefore wants to add another defender to his own taste and has targeted 25-year-old Ranocchia. The Italian has been one of the key players for Inter this season and has made 11 appearances so far. His stats are impressive as well – 20 tackles and 23 interceptions so far – much better than any Chelsea defender.
Over to Manchester United and midfielder Anderson is facing an exit in January. According to Daily Mirror, Portuguese club Porto are interested in signing Anderson on loan. The Brazilian has made only 2 league starts under new manager David Moyes and it would be good for his career to move elsewhere and get regular games. Manchester United paid £24m for Anderson to Porto in 2007 and the Portuguese club are interested in taking him back on loan, with a view to make the deal permanent.
The Guardian also reports that the future of Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez are also in doubt. The situation of Hernandez is critical really – the player wants to play regular games which is not getting at Old Trafford but the Red Devils do not want to lose a player of his caliber either.
