Chelsea are eyeing a move for Schalke 04 wonder-kid Max Meyer and according to German media Der Western, the Blues have already made a bid of €15m for the youngster.
The 18-year-old is touted as one of the brightest prospects of Schalke and is seen as a possible replacement of Julian Draxler who has been targeted by several English clubs.
Meyer has a release clause of €18m and the player is equally delighted about Chelsea interest. He said as translated by Sport Witness:
“I’m delighted that I’m so popular but I have only seen it in the newspaper, my agent is responsible (for dealing with that). I feel very comfortable at Schalke, got a great deal…trust my coach and the board. My contract runs until 2017, the talks are very good and I hope that an agreement is reached. I think it’ll be this year.”
Meanwhile, the Blues are looking to shake things up in the January transfer window and have earmarked Porto pair Jackson Martinez and Eliaquim Mangala, as per reports from Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Martinez is slowly establishing as one of the fine strikers in Europe and a possible move to a big European club is not far off. Although Chelsea have Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba in their ranks but Mourinho wants to add more firepower to the side.
The 22-year-old Mangala, who is also targeted by Premier League champions Manchester United, has made a name for himself with his physical presence at the heart of defence and breaking into the France national team in the process.
According to Sunday Mirror, Chelsea are hoping to bid in excess of £20 million to land highly rated young Sevilla defender Alberto Monero, who has a contract till June, 2018.
