Chelsea, the Premier League Champions, have started the 2015-16 Premier League campaign on a stuttering note, having failed to win their opening two matches, drawing 2-2 against Swansea and losing 3-0 against Manchester City.
The Blues are expected to remain busy in the final two weeks of the summer transfer window, with reports emerging in the British press, that Chelsea could sign at least three new players before the transfer deadline.
The London club have recently lodged a third bid for England defender John Stones, but Everton are likely to reject all temptations thrown at them. In that case, the Blues may need to look for options elsewhere.
Anyway, according to reports in the Italian media, Chelsea are in the ‘front row’ to sign Cagliari’s high rated young midfielder Godfred Donsah.
A host of Italian clubs – AC Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina and Bologna – have shown an interest in the 19-year-old young midfielder, but Calciomercato claim Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham emerge as strong candidates to sign him.
The Ghana midfielder would cost in the region of €8m and if it comes down to who-offers-more then Chelsea have an obvious advantage over other interested parties.
Donsah is probably not the right profile of player Jose Mourinho would be looking to sign at this moment. The club’s loan army department might see this as another good opportunity to cash in on a hot prospect, what Chelsea need at this moment (if at all) are players who can immediately improve the first team.
