According to reports in Madrid based newspaper Marca, French defender Rapahel Varane has seeked clarity over his future at Real Madrid. The Chelsea target will return to the Bernebeu for Real Madrid’s pre season preparations in full fitness, but the 21 year old wants to make sure that he features in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.
Varane had to spend much of his time on the sidelines last season thanks to a knee injury but once he regained full fitness, he couldn’t make a breakthrough in the team with Sergio Ramos and Pep at the heart of the defense. The youngster was reportedly unhappy but it is believed that the Champions League winners see the defender as Pepe’s understudy.
Chelsea have been interested in the player over the past few months and we had earlier reported that the Blues could eye Varane as a suitable replacement for David Luiz. Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of Varane and had labelled the him as “the best young centre back in the World” during his tenure at Bernebeu.

With the 2014-15 season looks to be John Terry’s last season in top flight football, the Stamford Bridge outfit can help themselves to a fantastic long term target without spending loads of cash in the inflated transfer market.
