Chelsea set for transfer, player’s head turned after phone call

Oct 24, 2024 12:29 PM

According to reports in Italian media outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani reportedly made a phone call yesterday to Chelsea striker Fernando Torres to persuade the Spaniard to join the Rossoneri.

We had delved into the intricacies of such a conversation being possible and we had earlier reported that Galliani knows how to speak Spanish and will try to convince the 30 year to make the switch before the transfer window slams shut.

However the former Liverpool striker’s wage demands could be a potential stumbling block as Torres currently earns €7m per year at London. Galliani however is confident that he can persuade the 2010 World Cup winner to move to Italy by offering him a net €4m per year with the rest €3m to be covered in bonus.

Torres, it has to be said doesn’t feature in Jose Mourinho Mourinho’s plans despite the Portuguese manager claiming that he wants the player to stay, “I want him to stay. He will play and score goals, and be very useful for us.”

While this might not be entirely true by our assumption, the Guardian have claimed that despite Diego Costa suffering an injury scare by straining his hamstring during a training session, Torres may leave Stamford Bridge to pursue his career at the San Siro.
