Chelsea vs Liverpool prediction – Premier League preview

A Carabo Cup final that doesn’t feature Manchester City! Strange times indeed. The Cityzens have won six of the last eight League Cups but we will have a different name on the trophy this year. Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head in the first showpiece of the season at Wembley on Sunday and the final looks set to be a intriguing affair.

Judging by their 6-0 annihilation of Leeds on Wednesday night, Jurgen Klopp’s side are back to their devastating best. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah scored twice, Joel Matip netted and Virgil Van Dijk added the sixth in injury time as the Reds racked up 15 shots on target. Chelsea, who have conceded just twice in their last six outings will be far harder to break down of course.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has lost three of his six domestic cup finals, coming unstuck 1-0 to underdogs Leicester in last season’s FA Cup final. In fact three of the finals he has reached as manager have gone all the way to penalties. It’s 9/2 with bet365 for Sunday’s final to be decided on spot kicks.

But it’s tough to see the Blues keeping Liverpool at bay for 90 minutes when they’re in such form.
