Chelsea’s €100m target advised to join Manchester United

Chelsea’s €100m target advised to join Manchester United

Sep 28, 2024 9:25 PM

Manchester United legend David Beckham has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford should he leave Real Madrid.

Beckham, the former England captain, is back at Old Trafford for the UNICEF match for Children, has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world during his playing career such as Real Madrid and AC Milan, but he admitted yesterday that he would have always returned to Manchester United had the chance arisen.

Ronaldo, like Beckham, left United to join Real Madrid, has been recently linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea. The Portuguese forward, however, hasn’t ruled out the option of returning to Old Trafford.

“I’d never advise any player not to come back to United,” Beckham said as quoted by The Times.

“I’d have crawled back if I could. Cristiano is such a fan’s favourite here; he was so successful, such a hard worker. If he decides to leave Real Madrid then for me personally it’s back to United. But I never had the opportunity to do so, and I’m proud of the teams I played for after United.”

Chelsea are the latest club to have reportedly registered an interest in Ronaldo. According recent reports from Spain, the Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich, is keen to bring the Real Madrid superstar to Stamford Bridge next summer and he is willing to dish out more than €100m for his signature.

In fact, Chelsea could look to raise the money through player-sales, with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Eden Hazard and Oscar could be sold to fund the move.
