For the past one month or so Portugal press have been serially covering the transfer development of Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah.
The 20-year-old plays for Victoria Guimaraes and he is thought to be one of the brightest prospects in the Portuguese league.
He has been reportedly scouted by Manchester United in the past few months while Monaco and Valencia have also shown a keen interest in signing him.
Another reason why he is getting much media attention is probably because of his agent, Jorge Mendes, who is pulling all the strings from behind. Mendes has promised the club that he would try to seal the best deal possible for the Ghana midfielder.
Few days back, the midfielder himself revealed that Manchester United are currently negotiating with his agent.
The player said: “It’s true that United want to sign me. I haven’t talked to anyone from United, but I know from my agent that they are currently negotiating with my club. Right now, I’m focused on Vitória though.”
Today A Bola reports he is certain to leave in the summer, but they do not mention any bid or offers from interested parties. Guimarães are expecting to make biggest sale in their club’s history, at least over €6m (€5,5m for Bebe 5 years ago), although Mendes had promised the club to find a buyer who would be willing to pay around €10m.
Mendes owns 35% of the player’s economic rights while the rest is owned by the club. His good relationship with United could be key here for the Old Trafford club in sealing the deal, if at all there is a genuine interest.
