Lazio have completed the signing of Stefan de Vrij from Feyenoord on Wednesday.
A statement on the Italian club’s official website read,”The SS Lazio announces purchase outright from Feyenoord defender Stefan de Vrij, ranked third at the last World Cup played in Brazil with the Dutch national team.”

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Manchester United as their new manager Louis van Gaal was interested in signing the centre-back. De Vrij has played under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager for the Netherlands national side during the recently concluded World Cup.
The Red Devils allowed their star duo Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leave the club on a free transfer. Van Gaal has only three recognised centre-backs in the squad, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans.
The Dutchman prefers playing with a three-man defence, along with two full-backs. Thus Van Gaal is looking to sign central defenders in the ongoing summer transfer window. With De Vrij joining Lazio, United boos should focus elsewhere in the transfer market.
