Daniel Ek set to increase bid for Arsenal

Daniel Ek set to increase bid for Arsenal

Nov 1, 2024 3:32 PM

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek is set to table another bid for Arsenal, reports Sky Sports.

Arsenal fans have been unhappy with owner Stan Kroenke, and the feeling of dissatisfaction was heightened by the European Super League drama back in April, which prompted many to protest outside the ground.

Amidst the protests, Swedish billionaire Ek announced on Twitter that he was an Arsenal fan growing up, and would be interested in purchasing the club.

He has continued to reiterate these plans, submitting a £1.8 billion bid in May, which was rejected with Kroenke insisting that the club is not for sale.

However, the American may be tempted depending on the amount offered. Sky Sports have today claimed that Ek is set to increase his bid to £2 billion.

Ek has been backed by Gunners legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and Patrick Vieira, who are all involved in the takeover bid.

Henry has previously spoken of the desire to bring back the club’s DNA.

If the takeover goes through, it would be a potentially huge move for Arsenal. The club has been underperforming for a long time, failing to win a league title since 2004.

Things have got worse in recent years, having not played in the Champions League since 2017.

Supporters are hoping that, with the right man in charge, they can get back to the glory days.

From 1997 to 2006, the Gunners won three league titles and reached a Champions League final.
