Everton look to Larsson to replace Yakubu

Everton look to Larsson to replace Yakubu

Oct 4, 2024 11:25 PM

According to the Daily Mail, Everton could make a move for Henrik Larsson as they look to bolster their depleted strike force.

With primary goal-getter Yakubu out for the remainder of the season with a ruptured Achilles, David Moyes has to sign a new striker in January, and preferably spend as little money as possible to do so.

If he’s looking for a great low-cost solution, Larsson would be about as good as it gets. There’s no question that Larsson still has the goods, even at 37. He scored 14 league goals for Helsingborg in the Swedish top flight’s recently-concluded 2008 season.

Everton were unsuccessful in a bid for Larsson earlier this year, but he is now free to move, and hasn’t committed himself to remaining at Helsingborg for another season. Larsson has said that he’d be open to moving abroad again, and he could be interested in a return to the Premier League after a successful spell with Manchester United in the 2006/07 season, so the least Moyes can do is try.
