Manchester United’s hunt to sign Monaco’s Fabinho has been boosted after the player made encouraging comments about a move to the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho wants to bolster his midfield as United compete in the Champions League next season. 23-year-old Fabinho is in good form and won the league with Monaco last season.
He has now stated that he would be open to playing under Mourinho again after their short time together at Real Madrid.
“It’s a tempting invitation,” he told Esporte Interativo. “I would first talk to my agent, Monaco too, to decide everything right.
“But it’s a great club, sure enough, I would think well about it.”
United, of course, have kept their options open and have reportedly been interested in Tottenham’s Eric Dier. Dier, however, signed a new five-year contract with Tottenham last season and it remains unlikely that he would sign for a rival team this summer.
Given Chelsea are closing in on Tiemoue Bakayoko for £35 million, the Mail believes former manager Jose Mourinho could lure Nemanja Matic to Manchester United.
By the looks of it, Fabinho will be the midfielder making way to Old Trafford, and his comments now are even more encouraging.
The player enjoyed a stellar season with Monaco last season and scored ten goals and assisted another 4 in the club’s league and Champions League campaign. He was a crucial part of the squad that broke PSG’s domestic hegemony and claimed the title.
Fabinho calls Manchester United interest “tempting”.
