Fabregas reiterates his desire to stay at Barcelona

Cesc Fabregas has insisted that he hasn’t received any concrete offers from any clubs and reiterates his desire to stay at Camp Nou.

The former Arsenal skipper’s future has been well speculated in the media while the player has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

Fabregas joined Barcelona in the summer of 2011 and won silverware with the Catalan club, but he often struggled to secure regular first team football, fueling speculations that he might leave the club in the summer.

Despite all criticisms, Fabregas has the numbers to speak for himself. The 26-year-old has scored 14 goals and racked up 12 assists for the Blaugrana in all competitions last season.

When asked about a possible move to Old Trafford, Fabregas said as quoted in the Spanish newspaper AS:

“People talk a lot but the truth is that no-one has spoken with me,”

“I want to triumph in Barcelona, that club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can.”

The Spaniard also feels that it would be foolish of Real Madrid to pay a world record transfer fee for Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale.

The La Liga giants have the habit of dishing out ridiculous sums of money for top players, and recently club adviser Zinedin Zidane has hinted that the Los Blancos are ready to pay more than £80m which they paid for signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United in 2009.

Fabregas continued:

“For me it seems foolish to pay 100 million euros for Gareth Bale. I don’t know how any club could spend that amount of money in these circumstances.

“He is a great player with all the right attributes, but we will have to see if Madrid sign him and if he can perform there.”

Barcelona themselves have flexed their financial muscles this summer, having already signed Brazilian superstar Neymar for €57m.

Fabregas feels that Neymar would need time to adapt here as he has come from a different footballing culture.
