Fastest Red Card

Fastest Red Card

Oct 19, 2024 3:25 AM

The dubious honour of receiving the quickest red card goes to Chippenham Town striker David Pratt, who was sent off only three seconds into his side’s loss at Bashley back in late December 2008.

Pratt, 21, lunged at Bashley midfielder Chris Knowles straight from the kick-off and received his marching orders from referee Justin Amey. Bashley went on to win the Southern Premier Division match 2-1.

Three seconds! Kick off, back pass, and boom!

While we’re on the subject, this month saw the fastest red card ever received by a goalkeeper, when Ebbsfleet United (of MyFC fame) goalkeeper Preston Edwards brought down the Farnorough striker ten seconds into the game. As Fleet had no goalkeeper on the bench, midfielder Tom Phipp, 18, had to play in goal for the remaining 89 minutes. Ebsfleet went on to lose the Blue Square South match 3-0 (5th February 2011).
