Former Manchester City player Rodney Marsh has claimed that Real Madrid have accepted a 48 million pound bid from Arsenal, for Karim Benzema.

Marsh is a former England international who played for QPR, Fulham and Manchester City. Speaking to talkSPORT, he confirmed that his source is certain Benzema will sign for Arsenal this summer.

Marsh claimed that the Spanish giants have accepted a huge bid from Arsenal.

Marsh said: “I had a phone call from a mate of mine, and he’s been right on many things, and he said that he believes Real Madrid have accepted a bid somewhere in the region of £48million for Benzema from Arsenal.

“In the past this guy has always been right, he’s never been wrong yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Arsenal have been tracking Benzema for years and there were several reports all summer that Wenger is keen to sign the French striker this summer.

The Gunners are determined to mount a title challenge this season and Wenger knows the importance of signing a world class forward.

Earlier, club legend, Thierry Henry suggested that Giroud is not good enough to fire Arsenal towards the title and it seems Wenger is of the same opinion.

After the signing of Petr Cech, Wenger is keen to address his goalscoring problems and is willing to break the bank for the Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema.

It will be interesting to see how true Marsh’ claims are, but if Arsenal manage to pull this off, it could go down as one of their best signings in recent history.

Benzema is a world class forward who offers much more than just goals. Furthermore, the French man suits Arsenal’s playing style perfectly.

He would not only add goals and sharpness to Arsenal’s front line, he would improve all other players playing alongside him too.
