Arsenal’s hope of re-signing their former player Carlos Vela have taken a blow after the striker hinted that he could continue at Real Sociedad beyond the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old left the Emirates club in 2012 and joined the Spanish club on a permanent transfer, just a year after spending a season on-loan with the La Liga outfit. Marca reported Arsene Wenger will activate a €4m buyback clause and will bring the striker to North London.
However, the Mexican international has revealed he did not enjoy his time at Arsenal during his time in England. Vela also says he enjoys the style of play in Spain than the football being played in the Premier League.
“The majority of Sociedad’s players are from the youth system and this has turned the dressing room into something more familiar,” Vela told beIN SPORTS.
“I never felt comfortable in London and I never enjoyed it, however, when I got to Sociedad, I found a place where I was very happy, where I’m enjoying myself every day.”
“The English game is very straightforward. Here, the difference is that there are more touches of the ball and that benefits me,” Sociedad striker concluded.
Meanwhile, Vela has been seesawing between the Spanish side and Arsenal in recent times. Earlier, the Mexican striker claimed that he would be open for a return to the Emirates in the coming transfer window.
With Vela’s latest comments on his life at the Emirates and the Premier League, it looks unlikely the former Gunners striker could leave his current employers and return to Arsenal.
