Frank Lampard comments on Matej Vydra speculation amid West Brom interest

Oct 2, 2024 12:24 PM

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in signing Derby County forward Matej Vydra in the summer.

According to reports from the Express and Star, West Brom are interested in signing Vydra from Derby County in the summer transfer window.

The Baggies could be on the lookout for a top forward if they lose either or both Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez.

And should they depart, the Baggies would be looking to make a move for Vydra who would cost in the region of £11 million. Also, the Czech Republic international will have wage demands of £35,000 per week.

However, according to new Derby County manager, Frank Lampard, Vydra will remain at the club for the 2018-19 season.

Lampard told BBC Sport: “There is a lot of speculation but he is still our player. We will see, but while he performs as well as he did last year, with the level of goals, I expect him to stay.”

Vydra is one of the best strikers in the Championship and would be a superb addition for any side. Last season, he scored 21 goals and provided four assists in 35 Championship starts for the Rams.

It was reported that Derby could still be looking to offload him to help ease their financial fair play troubles this summer, but Lampard’s latest comments suggest that the Rams are not thinking along those lines.
