Reports from Spanish newspaper Marca have confirmed that Champions League runners up Atletico Madrid are the latest club who have contacted Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal’s agent.
It is a fresh twist regarding the future of Manchester United’s €50m transfer target who was earlier advised by Chilean legend Ivan Zamorano to join Real Madrid.
The story claims that the Champions League runners up and La Liga winners have made tentative enquiries about the availability of the the 27 year old. It is believed that the Rojiblancos have identified the Chilean as their top target who would replace the departing Tiago at the Vicente Calderon.
Diego Simeone wants the Chilean to playin the middle of the park which would bolster Atletico’s dynamic midfield, which has been a driving force behind their immaculate success this season.
Fernando Felicevich, the midfielder’s agent, was contacted by representatives of the Atletico who asked if the player would be open to a move. The two parties spoke cordially and will speak again when Felicevich comes to Spain.
No doubt, it would be a major coup by Atletico if they manage to lay their hands on the midfielder who enjoyed his third successive Serie A title with the Bianconerri.
Moreover Atletico are confident that they can attract players of Vidal’s stature while cross city rivals Real Madrid are also interested in the Juventus player. If the Rojiblancos do manage to lure away Vidal to the Vicente Calderon in the summer, it would be yet another major disappointment for Manchester United whose transfer targets are fading away with each passing second.
