Liverpool are showing a keen interest in Rennes forward Paul–Georges Ntep, according to reports from L’Equipe.
The 22-year-old has been observed closely by Liverpool scouts and they are heavily impressed with what they saw.
Ntep thought to have visited Merseyside last week where he checked the club’s training facilities, although his representatives deny such reports.
L’Equipe reports that he travelled via round-trip travel express and left Liverpool on Thursday afternoon to return to France the following day.
The French forward, who has represented France at the U-21 levels, made a big impression during his time at Auxerre. He is known for his quick pace and good technical skills.
This season, he has scored nine goals and managed six assists. Ntep was close to joining QPR a year and a half ago, but the deal failed in the end. He was also linked with a move to Tottenham in the last January transfer window, but the deal never materialised. It seems like the interest from Liverpool are genuine – could he cross the channel and make a move to the Premier League in the summer
