Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is confident of joining Real Madrid in the summer, according to Spanish based newspaper Marca.

The 23-year-old had a sensational last season for Spurs and almost earned his team the elusive Champions League qualification spot singlehandedly.

The Welshman is heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid; with the president of the club Florentino Pérez claimed that “Bale was born to play for Madrid.”

Recently, Andre Villas-Boas, the manager of Spurs insisted that Bale “is not going to leave the club” and he has the assurance of Chairman Daniel Levy that no sale will take place in the summer.

However, according to latest report from Marca that has inside contacts with the club, Bale is convinced that the Los Blancos will be making their move to try and sign him in the summer.

Bale, who has remained tight-lipped about his future till now, is confident that at some point of time during this transfer window, an agreement between Levy and Perez can be struck up though he would not put pressure on the club to sell him.

Bale’s former team mate and current Madrid player, Luka Modric believes that the Wales international will add another extra dimension to Madrid’s style of play and can help the team take a step forward.

“Bale would fit perfectly, we could really use him. He is the type of player who will help us take a step forward,” said Modric as quoted in the Marca.

“He would give the team another dimension. His shot, his strength, his speed, his offensive power.”

It is thought that Madrid are preparing to break their transfer record again for Bale. The La Liga giants spent £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2009, and this time they are looking to shell out £85 million to secure Bale’s signature.

It will be interesting to see the approach of Spurs here. We all know that Levy is a shrewd business man and he would squeeze out extra few dosh from any high profile transfer, while the saga would drag on and on, like all other previous cases.

The question is can he provide sufficient amount of time for his manager to re-invest and rebuild the squad perfectly if Bale (Madrid usually don’t miss out on big money transfers) leaves the club so late in the transfer window
