Good News: Manchester United handed double injury boost

Oct 2, 2024 12:27 AM

Manchester United’s progress under Louis van Gaal has been thoroughly challenged by injuries to key players from time to time, forcing the manager to constantly shuffle his side.

By the time we approach the round 21 of the Premier League, Manchester United have had 55 injuries to several key players from time to time this season, more than any other club suffered such ravage in the league.

There is some good news however to cheer up the United fans. According to reports from Mark Ogden of The Telegraph, Louis van Gaal is hopeful of having Luke Shaw available for their Premier League tie against Southampton, despite the Manchester United defender suffering ankle scare during the FA victory at Yeovil.

Shaw, signed from Southampton this summer for a reported fee of £28m was substituted in the half time during the third round FA cup tie.

The England left-back earlier suffered an ankle problem and has endured an injury ravaged first season at Old Trafford restricting him to just 10 first team appearances.

He was taken off against Yeovil for precautionary measures and now the tests have revealed that no ligament damage for the young defender. He will be monitored at United’s Aon Training centre this week, but he is expected to feature against his former club.

Also available for selection is midfielder Daley Blind. The Dutch international is in contention to return to the squad having trained with the team for the past two weeks.

The Dutch midfielder has been out of action since November suffering a medical ligament damage during Holland’s Euro qualifier against Latvia.
