Hull City 1-2 Arsenal

English Premier League

13 March 2010

Arsenal scored a goal in stoppage time to get a crucial 2-1 win at Hull City on Saturday.

The Gunners were the better team throughout the night but had trouble converting chances and breaking down the Hull defense. They would strike first, in the 14th minute, as Andrey Arshavin scored to make it 1-0. Hull City would respond with good energy and earn a penalty kick in the 28th minute. Replays show it was a lucky break for the home side and could have easily been a no call. Jimmy Bullard stepped up to convert the penalty to make it 1-1.

The match take another turn after Hull evened the match. George Boateng picked up a yellow card in the 40th minute and would pick up his second in the 45th. Hull would have to play the second half with 10 men for the second half. Arsenal continued to attack in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net until stoppage time. They had several decent chances but struggled to convert. Finally, in stoppage time, Nicklas Bendtner scored to give Arsenal the three points.

It was not a great match from Arsenal who were far from their best but it keeps their EPL title hopes alive. The loss will be disappointing for Hull who were only a few minutes away from a draw.
