Manchester United star Juan Mata feels that there is still time bounce back in the league and snatch the top four positions from the grasp of Liverpool.
The Red Devils have had a poor start to the season and are languishing in 7th place, 11 points adrift of Liverpool. But more than just mathematics, what is indeed worrying for all the United fans is, there hasn’t been any sign yet that exudes confidence that this side can turn the tide under David Moyes.
Record signing Juan Mata is confident though that the team can still secure the Champions League spot, provided they put together a good run of results.
“The objective is to get to the Champions League spots,” Mata told Spanish TV station Canal Plus.
“It’s difficult because Liverpool are doing well, so are Arsenal, as well as Tottenham and Everton, who are all clubs also fighting for them, but I think we have a team who can do it.
“This is Manchester United. When this club wins two, three or four matches in a row, it has a winner’s mentality.
“We are coming and I think we can do it, but we have to win a lot of games first.”
Mata was a fan favourite at Chelsea but struggled to impress manager Jose Mourinho and was eventually sold to Manchester United in the transfer window for a record fee of £37.1m.
Mata has praised manager Moyes and has hailed him as a “great person” and says that the Scot has made him “feel important” again. Mata is also confident that Manchester United will bring in world class players in the summer to bolster the squad.
