Italian champions Juventus are on course to make their latest summer acquisition in the form of Porto left-back Alex Sandro, which was confirmed yesterday by coach Massimiliano Allegri and director general Giuseppe Marotta.
The official confirmation of Sandro’s move to Turin is imminent, as Allegri talked up the qualities of the Brazilian following his club’s traditional friendly match against the youth team, stressing the healthy state of affairs at Juventus.
“Meanwhile we’ve won the Super Cup, Alex Sandro arrives and he has great quality and attacking drive. Kwadwo Asamoah will return soon, the club is working well,” Allegri was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
Juventus’ director general Giuseppe Marotta also confirmed Sandro’s arrival, saying the club are close to securing the transfer.
“I think we can close things for Alex Sandro in the evening,” Marotta was quoted as saying by ESPNFC.
Sandro’s arrival will provide competition for Patrice Evra on the left side of defence, and will strengthen the Bianconeri’s defensive ranks. The 24-year-old is also a Brazil international, having played six times for the national team.
He made 40 appearances for Porto in the 2014/15 season, scoring one goal and providing five assists as the club lost the league title to Benfica by three points. Sandro will become Juventus’ 14th signing of a busy summer transfer window so far.
