Keane or Crouch for Tottenham in January?

Keane or Crouch for Tottenham in January?

Nov 12, 2024 8:26 PM

Yesterday, I reported that Tottenham could be set to make a January move to bring Robbie Keane back to White Hart Lane.

Today, there are conflicting reports about whether it’s Keane that Harry Redknapp wants to bolster his strike force in January, or if it’s another striker with Tottenham and Liverpool ties.

The Daily Mirror says that Tottenham are interested in making an offer of Aaron Lennon, Jamie O’Hara, and £5m in cash to Liverpool in order to re-sign Keane.

That’s quite an offer, and given their valuations of Lennon and O’Hara, amounts to £20m. Lennon and O’Hara both have age very much on their side, and there’s a lot of promise and talent with both, but does Rafa Benitez really need more midfielders

However, according to the Daily Mail, Keane isn’t even the one that Harry Redknapp wants. Instead, it’s Peter Crouch, who left Anfield for Portsmouth in the summer in an £9m move. Crouch has flourished thus far in his return to Pompey, with seven Premier League goals and nine in all competitions.

Tony Adams has said there won’t be any need to sell the likes of Crouch, but while I don’t think the £10m that the Daily Mail says would be an acceptable offer, Pompey could be swayed by a figure closer to £15m.

Stay tuned, this could get interesting. Tottenham will almost surely be signing a new (or old) striker in January, and these two won’t be the last names mentioned. Will it be Keane Will it be Crouch Will it be someone else
