Despite a 3-2 victory against Aston Villa over the weekend, some Liverpool fans aren’t sold on the idea of a Brendan Rodgers salvation and increase the pressure on the owners to replace him.

Rodgers has received plenty of heat last season and early this season as Liverpool have failed to produce their best in many occasions. This Pressure intensified after two dismal defeats and lacklustre displays in the opening stages of this season.

Speculation that Brendan Rodgers is walking a fine line is growing with every Liverpool defeat as many are expecting the Liverpool to replace him sooner rather than later.

It was revealed last month that the Fenway Sports Group had made contact with previous Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to take over the managerial role at Liverpool. There have also been rumours former Borussia Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp being the front-runner for the Anfield job.

With these two possible links, the question of who is the right man to take the helm of Liverpool has caused plenty of debate between football pundits and fans.

Liverpool fans have been vocal online and have thrown their support behind Jürgen Klopp online with the hashtag #Klopp4kop.

Currently, the German is taking a sabbatical after leaving Dortmund at the conclusion of last season. Although he has revealed he could be tempted to return to work if a Premier League job came available.

Klopp, however, has made one thing certain in his come and get me statement to FSG and that is he wants assurances and control.

Meaning, if the German were to be appointed it could see Liverpool scrap their high criticised transfer committee.

The reds currently, have a transfer team in place consisting of FSG board member Mike Gordan, the director of football Ian Ayre, head of analysis Michael Edwards, head of recruitment Dave Fallows, chief scout Barry Hunter and first team manager Brendan Rodgers.

This established system is meant to allow Liverpool a collective approach to transfers and wage structure.

Although, since its implementation in 2012, this structure has come under plenty of criticism after several disappointing signings in the Brendan Rodgers era. Despite the a high demand for the system to be scrapped earlier, the club doesn’t show any signs of scrapping the committee.

Klopp however, has other ideas.

The German has made it clear that he wants the transfer committee scrapped, giving him also wants to have sole control of Liverpool’s transfers. Klopp also wants assurances he is wanted by the whole club, not just a select few if he were to take the Liverpool job.

Despite all this speculation, FSG has continuously thrown their support behind Brendan Rodgers throughout. Although if there Liverpool were to return to disappointing form, it could force the owners hand.

Rodgers acknowledged the pressure he is currently under in a post-match interview, after Liverpool’s win against Aston Villa. Directly, hitting out at his doubters. (See video below).

For now Brendan Rodgers is secure as Liverpool boss, but, he will want to keep his side in winning form and use the win against Aston Villa as a turning point in their season.

With the replacements of Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti waiting in the wings. Rodgers needs to continue improving the squad as pressure mounts on his job with every single loss.

The Liverpool boss will hope to further silence critics with a victory midweek in the Europa League against FC Sion.
