The summer transfer window may be over but the rumour mill is omnipresent. Despite domestic leagues and European competitions in full flow there are lot to speculate if we are to anticipate the ‘fast approaching’ January transfer market.
We bring you a roundup of all the latest transfer stories including Liverpool’s January transfer plans for a Real Madrid winger while Manchester United are already in the hunt to secure Luke Shaw’s replacement.
Liverpool in race to sign Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev:
According to reports from Italian media outlet TMW who have quoted Spanish publication Diario AS, Liverpool have rekindled their interest in signing Denis Cheryshev in the winter transfer window. The report states that Russian winger could leave the Bernabeu side in January as he is frustrated with limited game time and wants to move elsewhere where he would get significant playing time on the pitch.
The Reds were also interested in the 24 year old in the summer and the Telegraph had reported in August that the Anfield side could table a £14.9m bid for the player.
Liverpool however will face strong competition from Zenit St Petersburg, Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia who are also interested in Cheryshev. There is no doubt that the winger will be an able replacement for Raheem Sterling who joined Manchester City in the summer but the Russian’s injury concerns will be an issue for any side who pursue his signature.
Manchester United tracking Luke Shaw replacement in Charlton starlet Morgan Fox:
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has announced that the Luke Shaw will be out of action fro six months following his horror leg break against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. The Daily Mirror reports that the Red Devils are tracking Charlton starlet Morgan Fox as Shaw’s replacement.
Charlton are thus moving quickly to offer Fox a new contract to deter United away while Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham are also keeping tabs on the young Welshman. United though also have Hammers’ Aaron Cresswell and Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor on their shortlist. The recent news comes as a bit of a surprise as United in the past few days have also been linked with Valencia’s Jose Gaya who reportedly has a £36m release clause.
Chelsea chasing young Porto midfielder Ruben Neves:
The Daily Star reports that Chelsea will use their midweek’s Champions League trip to Portugal to check out on Porto’s defensive midfielder Ruben Neves. The report states that the Blues had earlier sent scouts to watch the 18 year defensive midfielder last Sunday when Porto were in action against Benfica.
Real Madrid are also interested in the teenager but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could use his great relations with Porto to sign the player. Neves has already been compared with Joao Moutinho thanks thanks to his intricate passing ability, great vision and maturity beyond his age.
Yannick Bolasie signs contract extension with Crystal Palace cooling Tottenham rumours:
The Guardian reports that Congo midfielder Yannick Bolasie has signed a contract extension with Crystal Place till 2019. The tricky midfielder was linked with a move to Tottenham as Palace manager Alan Pardew had valued the player at £40m last season.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa seeking Brad Guzan replacement:
The Daily Mirror reports that Aston Villa have set their sights on Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius as manager Tim Sherwood seeks a replacement for Brad Guzan.
The 22 year old had earlier enjoyed a spell at Manchester City before but he has now become an integral part of Mainz after impressing with his shot stopping skills. The report states that Sherwood had sent Villa’s top spy, former Manchester United goalkeeping coach Tony Coton, to Germany this week to check out the 22-year-old.
Sherwood has also said that he would not accept a £60m offer for 20-year-old playmaker Jack Grealish as reported by Daily Mail. Tim, what are you on
