Liverpool look to stun Man Utd with swoop for €60m top target

Nov 28, 2024 9:49 PM

According to the Metro, Brendan Rodgers is about to swoop in on Manchester United’s deal with Juventus for Arturo Vidal, by offering more money than LvG was planning to go up to.

It is believed that Manchester United are topping their deal out at £42.5million, but Liverpool are still enjoying a very cash-heavy transfer window, buoyed from a Champions League return and their huge income from the Luis Suarez sale. The Merseyside club are reported to be ready to hijack the deal by bettering United’s offer and tempting Juventus to part with the player.

The Reds have an upper hand over the Red Devils as far as Vidal will be concerned, in that they can offer Champions League football this season, for United it will have to be earned this season by a return to the top spots of the EPL. Will this be a major factor in Vidal’s decision

The deal has been very closely followed by the media and football blogs alike, with everyone desperate to see if Vidal will end up playing Premier League football next season. The Chilean midfielder impressed at the World Cup, where he started three of the four games his nation competed in.

This came on the back of a very notable season at Juventus for the 27-year-old, finding the back of the net a total of 18 times; 11 goals in 32 Serie A appearances plus five in the UEFA Champions League and two more in the UEFA Europa League after they finished 3rd in their group and fell into the secondary tournament.

His work rate and strength on the ball are further reasons why the Italian champions are desperate to hold on to him but with the big money offers coming in from England, will Juventus be swayed

The Metro, for those not from Britain (or who don’t use public transport, where you can usually find a fifth-hand copy on the seat, crossword partially completed), is a free newspaper and is actually the largest free newspaper in the world.
