Liverpool versatile star Emre Can has hinted Jurgen Klopp to succeed at Anfield, if the German manager decides to take the vacant job at the club.
The Reds endured a disappointing start to the 2015-16 under Brendan Rodgers’ guidance as they continued to struggle. Lack of poor display saw Liverpool relieve the former Swansea manager from his duties just hours after the settled for a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby last Sunday.
Klopp is without a job after deciding to step down his post as Borussia Dortmund manager at the end of the last season. Klopp is the firm favourite to replace Rodgers at Anfield and Can believes his compatriot has what it takes to help Liverpool get back to top.
“Jurgen Klopp is certainly a great coach. I think he has demonstrated in Dortmund that he can match any team in the world,” Can told Die Welt newspaper, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Klopp alreayd achieved success as Dortmund manager as the 48-year-old guided the German club to two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal success during his time as the manager at Signal Iduna Park. It also includes a progress to the Champions League final where they were beaten by league rivals Bayern Munich at Wembley in 2013.
Can played as a defender and a midfielder under Rodgers in his debut season at Liverpool. The German claims Rodgers alone should not be blamed for the Reds’ dip in form as players should start holding themselves responsible.
“We had with Liverpool a dip that has cost us a few games. Although the focus is mainly on coach Brendan Rodgers, at the end we have players responsible for the situation in Liverpool. Rodgers has done good work – always,” the former Bayer Leverkusen man explained.
