The transfer of Liverpool’s highly talented young forward Suso to AC Milan is complete, with Italian media are suggesting that the Serie A giants have come to an agreement with the Reds to sign the Spaniard.

Italian media TMW mentions “Done Deal” in their headline and goes on to claim, relaying the information from AC Milan’s own TV Channel, that Suso is heading to Italy and thereafter will sign a new contract, should he passes his medical.

Suso’s agent Jamie Serra told Liverpool Echo, via This is Anfield, that there has been an agreement between the two clubs. The only point of conflict remains whether he will join in January or next summer.

“Yes, I can confirm that there is an agreement between Milan and Suso on a four-year contract,” his agent Jaime Serra. 

“There’s a possibility (he will arrive in January). We’ll just have to see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window.”

Milan chief Adriano Galliani confirmed, however, that Suso hasn’t been signed yet, but could be an option for next summer. 

Galliani: “Suso We haven’t signed anything yet. He’s an option for next summer.”

The player will undergo a medical in the coming weeks and most likely he will join Milan next summer on a free transfer, and will be officially presented after 1st July. Sport Witness adds information that the test are likely to be conducted at AC Milan’s training ground. 

Suso, once considered as a top prospect in the Liverpool’s academy, could have had a very good career at Anfield, but there runs a feeling that he hasn’t done enough to impress his manager, although in his case, bad fortune has played a part too.

Suso is an outrageously gifted player, blessed with abundance of skill and vision. He progressed through the Spain youth international teams and became a Liverpool regular, more-or-less, in Brendan Rodgers’ first season. 

While he was a brilliant player to watch going forward, his defensive work-rate was something that let him down, and prevented him from becoming a first team regular. In modern day football, every manager demands their attacking midfielders/forwards to perform the defensive duties as well, and Rodgers, who has always given importance to nurturing young talents, therefore wanted him to play elsewhere and gain game time to boost his confidence and return as a matured player.

He was sent on loan to La Liga side Algeria where he duly impressed, despite having bit of ups and downs in Spain. 

But probably his rate of development wasn’t at par with the way Liverpool progressed under Rodgers in his second season. The Reds not only improved immeasurably under Rodgers, they even went on to challenge for the title, and only missed by a whisker in the end to winning the league. 

It was evident that Liverpool would spend big in the summer and the departure of Luis Suarez didn’t help either. Liverpool went on to sign several attacking midfielders like Lazar Markovic and Adam Lallana along with the already stocked talents of Coutinho and Sterling, which meant Suso dropped down the pecking orders, inevitably.

The question that strikes here is why wasn’t he given enough opportunities especially when Liverpool had struggled this season badly in the opening few months 

May be, Rodgers hasn’t seen enough of him in the training ground, while injuries at inopportune moment halted his progress too.

At Milan, Suso will get more game time, that’s for sure, but with the Serie A giants themselves have dropped from being a Champions League team and probably not good enough to be a Europa League team too, will it at all help the young lad to take his career where he wants to be rather what it should have been. Only time will tell.
