Manchester City’s hopes of signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal have been dealt a blow after it was reported that Paris Saint-Germain have held talks with the forward’s representatives over a possible move to France.
City failed with a £60 million bid for Sanchez last August and were expected to return with another offer during the January transfer window.
However, Express Sport says PSG have emerged as serious rivals for the Chilean international’s signature.
With Real Madrid being linked with a move for Sergio Aguero, City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to boost his squad as his team chases success on four fronts.
Sanchez’s attitude has been questioned this year and there have been rumours that he has had a fall-out with some of his teammates over his lack of effort in certain games
The forward has scored only four league goals this season, compared to 12 this time last year, but a move away from the Emirates Stadium could reignite his enthusiasm for the game.
PSG are believed to be ready to offload Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani to accommodate Sanchez, and he could actually be a better option for City than the Arsenal forward.
Cavani expressed an interest in signing for City earlier this season and his experience could make him a good fit alongside Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus.
