Belgian teenager Zakaria Bakkali is set to sign a contract extension with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven according to Belgium newspaper SportWereld.
Back in October, we reported that Premier League Champions Manchester United are targeting the Belgian teenager who according to his national team manager, Marc Wilmots, has similar playing styles with Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard.
He is one of the bright prospects of Europe at the moment and Eindhoven wanted to tie him to down on a three-year-deal, when he turns 18. He is the youngest ever player to score a hat-trick in the Eredivisie and is already an integral part in the plans of his national team boss.
“Zakaria is satisfied with PSV and has indicated that he wants to continue to develop with us for the time being,” says technical manager Marcel Brands. “We have received a positive signal and talks will heldat the end of this month”
Bakkali’s current contract runs until the summer of 2015. EU legislation requirers players to be over 18 to sign a contract that runs longer than three years. The Dutch outfit are therefore looking to tie him down with a long term contract at the club.
It was understood that Arsenal and Manchester City were also interested in his signature but at the moment it seems like the youngster is ready to continue his career with the Dutch club for few years more.
